Apothesource Onboarding

Newly hired developers will participate in the Greenfield project space.

The Greenfield team is a key part of successfully onboarding developers that are able to be productive sooner. The Greenfield team will introduce new hires with Apothesource’s practices and procedures surrounding software development.

The team comprises:

Greenfield PO’s have dual responsibilities within both Greenfield and their normal team. Communication is done via daily stand-ups where the team will discuss status, direction, and work to remove any impediments. Team members will use the #greenfield-dev and #onboardng-general channels for discussions. Newly hired developers will complete their environment setup, the starter project, and work through stories. These developers will also participate in the Greenfield Sprint Planning activities to understand how our team conducts spring planning and retrospectives.

Once a developer has completed their time with the Greenfield team, they will be introduced to their project team and will exit the Greenfield team.

Newly hired site reliability engineers (SREs) will participate in an abbreviated time in the Greenfield project space.

The Greenfield team will help the newly hired SRE with their environment setup, and a partial walkthrough of the starter project until it diverts to a separate set of instructions for the SRE starter project.

Once the SRE has finished the SRE starter project and has been signed off, they will join the SRE team and exit the Greenfield team.

We have general guidelines on what development workflow looks like for a developer, as well as project specific guidelines.

Product Owners are a key part of Apothesources’s success by having developers take ownership of components, we are able to maintain a large amount of work while keeping each component up to date and moving forward with new work.
